About Us

Stacy Rivett developed her love of art and design during a six year stint in Tokyo where she hosted two TV shows on arts and culture for JCTV and NHK, Japan's largest Television network.

On her return to the USA, Stacy opened Rhubarb Home in 1995, a unique home furnishings and accessories design business in the funky NoHo district of Manhattan, leading her into her role as Lifestyle expert for Cosmopolitan magazine in the early 2000's and more on-camera work as the design expert on 'Design Defined'  and the host of 'Country Style'  on HGTV.

These days Stacy is an in-demand interior design consultant both here on Kauai and on the mainland in addition to continuing to renovate and design her own homes.

Stacy also works at the nexus of conservation, sustainability, design, and economic empowerment,  working with artisans in over 50 countries around the world in her role as co-founder/director of the Lindblad/National Geographic Artisan Fund. In 2016 Stacy was inducted into the prestigious Society Of Women Geographers following in the giant footsteps of members like Amelia Earhart, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sally Ride, Sylvia Earle and Jane Goodall.

Mark Rivett developed a passion for music and the guitar at a young age which led him to a long, successful career as a musician/composer/producer based in Sydney, Australia.  With state of the art studios in Sydney and Singapore, his company, Song Zu, www.songzu.com, became one of the most respected and awarded studios in the world, specializing in music, sound design and audio post production for advertising, television and film.

Mark went on to spend quite a few years in Los Angeles writing music for film, shaping surfboards and most importantly meeting the love of his life, Stacy, over barbecued ‘beer can chicken’ at a backyard party in Topanga, California in early 2013.  Since then the two have rarely spent a moment apart and have gone on to flex their creative muscles with high-end house renovation and interior design.  Monkey Palm Mercantile has been born out of their passion for artisanal design, art and handcrafted goods and both the online and brick and mortar store in Kapaa, Kauai bear testament to their collective vision, skills, dedication and hard work.
